Best Week Ever: What to do besides Run this Week
Welcome to San Francisco, what many locals will tell you (with blatent bias) is the best city ever. Hopefully you are here with some time to do more than only run, sleep, and eat carbs. While we do have great streets, comfortable beds, and delicious food, you may find yourself with the itch to experience our vibrant urban culture. Visitors and locals alike, you are in luck: this week is filled to the brim with amazing activities (not even including our action-packed Expo). Some take place near our course, so you can envision yourself flying through our fair streets on Sunday while having fun and taking in local flavors beforehand on Wednesday through Saturday.
Wednesday: We made a party for you! And it’s at our city’s beautiful Conservatory of Flowers. “Bollywood Nights” has so much in store for you: Bhangra lesson and performance, local fennel beer, Chai, free photobooth, and chlorophyll galore! 21+ age requirement 6pm-10pm $5.
Thursday: Good runners need good food, so come to the Good Eggs launch party at Mission Community Market and grab some fuel for your journey this weekend: 6pm-9pm at 22nd/Mission free. THEN head to California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park for “Runner’s Nightlife” for funky DJs, dance contest, ostriches, meteors, and massage. Plus cocktails and fish. 21+ age requirement from 6pm-10pm $12. Another nautical option is to go watch “Pirates of the Caribbean” on a ship with the Maritime Park Association 2905 Hyde/Jefferson 7.30pm $5-15, grog available for purchase.
Friday Free Art Fun: Art party at Secession Art & Design 3361 Mission/30th 6.30pm-9.30pm. Sip wine and admire local design, some made by one of our mile marker banner artists. Eat good spaghetti next door. Also tonight: SF Beautification Awards at our historical Armory Building 14th/Mission 7pm. Food trucks, art, and music. Also also: Outdoor games + art pop-up at Curiosity Shoppe + Alite 855 Valencia/20th 6-9pm.
Saturday = Pasta Party. You have your tickets already, correct? Bart Yasso told me he wants to sit by you.
Sunday is your big day! Enjoy the entertainment on the course (look for the little kids playing heavy metal). If you have any time/energy after the race, head to the Presidio for ArtSeed’s reception 3pm-5pm, celebrating the Golden Gate Bridge. ArtSeed designed some of our mile marker banners this year!
Enjoy this week!
