Expo Happenings
This year, we’ve been working extremely hard to create an Expo event to remember. We have thought long and hard about all the aspects that are involved in the preparation for the big race. Our Expo really does have everything you want and more, and don’t worry, if you didn’t feel like you got the whole experience on day one, you can always come back on day two! After picking up your bib, race shirt, and goody bag, you will walk into the world of running! You will first notice our Merchandise store where you can pick up all sorts of marathon gear and memorabilia. This would be a GREAT place to get a cool souvenir like the official race poster, or even a gift for a friend back home! After picking something out in the store, make your way to main Expo floor where you’ll find 40+ vendors connected to running, San Francisco, and fitness, there is definitely a stop there for everyone. Check out this year’s list.
This is where it gets even better! This year we have a Runners Lounge, Seminar Series, a Tech Center, and a Yoga and Meditation area. Whether you are looking to become a high tech runner with all the cool new apps, or maybe you are looking for inspiration for your Sunday Journey, or even just trying to find peace of mind- we have got it all. The Runner’s Lounge hosted by Sports Basement is a relaxing place to chat with other runners and flip through different running magazines, and just bask in the glory of the sport we all love. You will also be able to make signs, watch the Course Video, and stretch! Next, check out the Seminar Series where experts from all different fields will be presenting both days at the Expo, if you want to learn more about the various talks you can sit in on for free- click here.
This year we have added a Tech Center to our Expo. Step into the world of apps, twitter, and Facebook and gear up for The Biofreeze San Francisco Marathon. MapMyRun will host the center in partnership with our 2011 Ambassador Team and will be on site to walk you through The SF Marathon iPhone App and also show you how to sign up for SMS athlete alerts! This is also a very social place, so be ready to post on Facebook and twitter and see it pop up on a live feed, a great way to see how your fellow runners are gearing up for Sunday. Also, meet your favorite Social Media-frenzied friends at our Meet-Ups and Tweet-Ups. The Tech Center is also where you will want to get your picture taken in front of a our one-of-a-kind San Francisco Mural!
Last, but definitely not least is the Yoga and Meditation sessions that will be held both days of the Expo. Take a moment to relax and drop into to one of the free sessions. The ladies of lululemon athletica will be teaching the Yoga classes in the Yoga and Meditation Area on the upper deck. If you are interested in taking part, click here for the schedule. Jon Pratt and his colleagues from the Shambala Meditation Center will join the Runner’s Expo to lead the Runner’s Meditation Sessions. Sessions will also be held in the Yoga and Meditation area on the upper deck, on both days. If you would like to attend a session, check out the times.
Don’t forget the two day Runner’s Expo is FREE to the public for all runners, family, and friends who are interested. For more details on location and times, click here.
